Dan Sirkis

Dan Sirkis, PhD
Staff Scientist

Dan is a staff scientist in the Memory and Aging Center studying changes in the immune system in the context of neurodegeneration. In particular, he is interested in transcriptional alterations in immune cells and hopes to ultimately connect this information to a more robust understanding of cell biological changes in the immune system during neurodegeneration. Dan completed Ph.D. work in cell biology in 2012 with Robert H. Edwards at the University of California, San Francisco. In 2018, he completed postdoctoral training in membrane trafficking and biochemistry with Randy Schekman at the University of California, Berkeley and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. When not working, Dan enjoys exploring the island of Alameda and traveling within and beyond California.
